Doodle Party! Google Rings in 2013 in Style
Google has released its final Google Doodle of 2012 and its first of 2013 -- a before-and-after party picture.
The search giant is known for crafting exceptional New Year-centric logos, and this year's is no exception. In countries where it is still 2012, Google has a festive party logo, replete with characters from Google Doodles from throughout 2012.
For places where the clock has already turned to 2013, however, the Google logo shows the Google letters cleaning up after the party.
The one partygoer still in attendance: Rodin's "The Thinker." The world-famous sculpture can be seen at his desktop computer in both pictures.
Earlier this month, Google revealed its most popular Go…

Watch Obama’s Fiscal Cliff Address Live
President Barack Obama is scheduled to make remarks on the so-called Fiscal Cliff Monday at 1:30 p.m. EST.
Congress and the president have been intensely negotiating a solution to the Fiscal Cliff, a combination of spending cuts and tax hikes which some analysts believe would plunge the United States back into recession. Without a deal in place, the cliff will be triggered at midnight Tuesday as 2012 ends and 2013 begins.
Negotiations which took place over the weekend and earlier Monday reportedly brought Democrats and Republicans closer to a deal, details of which Obama may be officially announcing during this address.

U.S. President Barack Obama Battles for Re-Election
Barack Obama, the platform's fifth most-followed person, and his administration used Twitter to rally voters and defend his reign as president. And when Clint Eastwood poked fun at Obama with an "Invisible Obama"/empty chair routine, the president fired back with this viral gem.

This Ain’t Over: National Geographic Goes Dark on Instagram
Think Kevin Systrom's sort-of apology and walkback from Instagram's new privacy policy ended the controversy? Think again. For many prominent users, until they see his updated terms of service, this whole thing is on hold.
Case in point: National Geographic, or @NatGeo, one of Instagram's most popular accounts with 638,629 followers -- and certainly one of its most storied names. @NatGeo stunned the Instagram world late Tuesday by announcing it was suspending its posts to the service.
"We are very concerned about the direction of the proposed new terms of service," NatGeo's post (likely the last for a while) reads. "If they remain as presented, we may close our account."
If the…

Zuck Gives $500 Million in Facebook Stock to Charity
Mark Zuckerberg announced his and wife Priscilla's second major charitable contribution to date -- a gift of 18 million Facebook shares to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The gift was announced, not surprisingly, by a post on Zuckerberg's timeline Tuesday evening.
Facebook shares are currently valued at $27.71 each, so the 18 million share gift is valued at $499 million.
The Facebook founder signed The Giving Pledge in 2010, a commitment to donate the majority of his wealth to charity during his lifetime. A few months prior, he gave a $100 million gift to the Newark City Public School System. That time around, however, he made the announcement on Oprah.
"I'm really prou…

Is This Instagram’s Netflix Moment?
Just a day after Instagram announced its new privacy policy, users are outraged. Celebrities who once flocked to the photo-sharing site in droves are reconsidering how they use the service, and competing services such as Flickr are seeing a surge in signups.
SEE ALSO: Instagram Will Basically Sign Your Life Away
While user backlash against tech services is nothing new, it's stunning to observe the change of sentiment regarding Instagram in just 24 hours. The last time I remember a company shifting so rapidly in the hearts and minds of users was when Netflix made a series of blunders that caused it to shed users and lose more than two-thirds of its stock value.

The popular photo app is on the verge of a mass exodus in light of new Terms of Service, which many interpreted as giving Instagram the right to sell your pics to advertisers starting Jan. 16. The backlash has been notable, with celebrity users tweeting their concerns and disaffected Instagrammers casting about for a new service to call home.

The Color-Coordinated Romney Family Christmas Card
It's good to see that the election loss hasn't hindered the Romneys' ability to color-coordinate. We thought Christmas colors were red and green, but looks like the Romneys prefer non-traditional sherbet and highlighter hues.
But it apparently is possible to fit all 29 of your family members into one shot. Or, for all we know, Mitt has spent all his time post-campaign Photshopping kids and grandkids into this picture and choosing the perfect backdrop to complement his hair.

Drink Up: HBO to Release ‘Game of Thrones’ Beer
HBO has teamed up with Brewery Ommegang in New York to release four Game of Thrones-inspired beers to promote the hit TV show. WinterIsComing.net reports that the first beer, Iron Throne Blonde Ale, will launch nationwide in time for the fantasy drama’s season three premiere on March 31.
The collaboration between Ommegang and HBO is focused on developing unique beers that directly tie into themes, characters and nuances of the medieval-like fantasy realm of Westeros and the surrounding kingdoms, where the competition to sit on the Iron Throne is fierce and deadly.
Iron Throne Blonde Ale will be available on draft and in 750ml bottles for the suggested retail price of $8.50 per bo…
