
Google wastes little time updating its maps: The four-lane bridge in Washington state that partially collapsed on Thursday has been removed from Google Maps 12 hours after falling into the Skagit River. An empty placeholder now fills the bridge's location:
The bridge gave way with little warning, sending two cars and their occupants into the freezing water below. Authorities rescued three people, and two were hospitalized for hypothermia, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Authorities have not confirmed the reason for the collapse. Several witnesses reported a large television truck collided with the bridge, potentially triggering the cave-in. Read more...
