Google to Resolve FTC Antitrust Case Today, Report Says
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission's nearly two-year antitrust probe into Google will come to a close Thursday, according to a report.
After 20 months, the search giant will end the case with a "voluntary agreement and a consent decree" on its alleged abuse of patents, Bloomberg said. Update: The FTC is planning to make an announcement about the matter at 1 p.m. EST on Thursday.
Launched in June 2011, the investigation focused on whether Google uses its search dominance -- as the world's most popular search engine -- to drive traffic to its products, disadvantaging competitors in the process. Judge Stopped From Ordering User to Alter Yelp Review
A judge's order that a Yelp user alter her Yelp review accusing a contractor of theft and sloppy work for the duration of a defamation case was overturned by the Virginia Supreme Court this week.
The Yelp user, Jane Perez, hired Christopher Dietz of Washington, D.C., for more than $50,000 worth of home improvement projects in 2011. Perez was unhappy with the work of Dietz's crew and fired them. Soon afterward, $2,500 in jewelry was stolen from Perez's home.
Perez put the blame on Dietz, posting accusations of theft and shoddy work against him on Yelp and other similar websites in early 2012, according to Ars Technica. Dietz denied the theft allegations and later sued Perez for defama…

Samsung to Launch Several Tizen-Based Devices in 2013
Samsung plans to launch multiple devices based on Linux-based mobile OS Tizen in 2013, the company has confirmed.
"We plan to release new, competitive Tizen devices within this year and will keep expanding the lineup depending on market conditions," Samsung told Bloomberg Businessweek in an e-mailed statement.
No details about the upcoming devices or their prices were disclosed.
Tizen is a Linux-based, open-source mobile operating system led by Samsung and Intel. It supports both Intel and ARM processors and its SDK and API allow developers to use HTML5 to write applications.
