
At SXSW last year Banjo was sitting at around 1 million users. Going into this year’s SXSW the company now has over 4 million, and is focusing its efforts not only the "here," things going on in your immediate vicinity, but also the "there," allowing you to tap into what’s going on around the world.
“When we first started Banjo part of the equation to solve the problem was the there, but it was technically not feasible because solving for there means you’re literally solving for every point on the planet,” Banjo founder and CEO Damien Patton told Mashable.
Patton says that Banjo was working on the tech of the there at last year’s SXSW behind the scenes, but “cracked it” the later part of last year.
